This year, there are many unexpected like the female actor awards. A lot of comments hurt Joanne Peh for winning this award. To many people, it is unexpected because 3 nominees are 'senior actress', they are also the 3 AH JIE. Having to know she won the award, many people make very hurting comment. For the popular awards, many new faces came in top 10, maybe because of the change in voting system. Over the years, calling is voting, now calling + online vote counts the total votes.

Star Awards started in 1994. Over the years, there was also changes to the award, from top 5 most popular artiste to the top 10 most popular artiste. In 1995, best actor and best actress given out. From 1994 to 2007, Star Awards was held annually in December. From 2009, Star Awards is held annually in April. Also, from 2010, Star Awards split into 2 ceremonies, Show I recognizes all backstage members include scriptwriters, directors, producers etc. Show II will then recognizes the artistes, most popular, best actor, host etc.
