Keppel-Rina Young Architect Competition

Today was the day to remember.

Today was the big day for us, it was the Keppel-RINA Young Architect Competition. Last Friday, Mr. Zhou, our lecturer chose the best four groups to participate in the Keppel-RINA Competition.

The following four groups were:

Wei Yi and Zhi Ming

Wei Jun and Kian Peng

Bai Yi and Shu Min

Jun Yi and Zhang Ke

This should be my first time participating in competition. It was a fierce battle. The nervousness can never be described when you have to present in front of the 'strangers'. The 'strangers' are the judges for today. They were very experienced and in the marine industry for many years.

We are the second group. The groups on the above are in order. We were presenting on our design on the chemical tanker. (Proudly to say, we are the only group working on the tanker.)

Good News! We won the competition! We're happy that our hard work in these few weeks paid off and won ourselves cash prize of 200 dollars and also a certificate awarded to us on the day of the graduation ceremony.

Very thank you for those who have support and cheer for us on that day! You should know who you are!

2011 is coming to an end. Looking back, there were many obstacles I faced this year. Money and friendship were the main obstacles...

This year, I have my Final Year Project (May to Aug). This was a test to our friendship. In this project, we were building a Rock Dumping Vessel (Note: we built it from scratch). The most difficult times was when after fabrication, you found out that the dimension did not fit to the scale to the ship. Everything had to be done all over again. Example, I did the accommodation of the vessel. When I found out that the accommodation of the ship did not fit to our scale, I felt reluctant and felt like giving up. There were scolding among team members but our friendship did not shattered but became stronger.

Anyway, our hard work paid off, we managed to complete the vessel within such a short period of time..

Money was another obstacle I faced. I invested a lot in my driving license. These lessons made me paid a lot of my hard-earned money inside. In my first practical test, I paid a total of 300 dollars but I failed. I was hurt and felt like giving up. Encouragement from friends and family pull me through to the second test. Another 300 dollars put in for the test. Finally, I passed. (22 Nov 2011 - I passed the Practical Test) Just yesterday, I received my photo-card license.

Not only I faced obstacle but the whole world does. The whole world also go through a lot this year. Especially countries facing natural disaster.

Example, Japan faced its earthquake and tsunami on 11 March 2011. This earthquake has a magnitude of 9.0 which caused tsunami. Its nuclear plant shut down and some even fail causing radiation.

Example, Thailand faced its severe flooding. It began around July. The water ceased around December. About 58 of 76 Thailand's provinces were flooded.

The world not only face natural disaster. It also faced financial crisis, political instability. Many European countries were in debt that they were unable to paid off. This caused banks to collapse and also had to reach out their hands to World Bank, This situation still present today. It was not an easy issue so next year, we might faced another depression again since 2008.

Singapore go through a lot this year especially in its politics.

In May, Singapore had its General Election. This was the first time where Singapore had the most opposition parties in their Parliament.

In August, Singapore hold its Presidential Election. Mr. S R Nathan stepped down after its 12 years term as a President for the Republics. This was the first time there were a total of 4 candidates competing for a seat as a President. Coincidentally, all 4 candidates have the same surname 'TAN". Mr. Tony Tan won and sits for the 6 year term as a President.

Not only politics, recently, transport seems to be the BIG issue. The Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) faced its severe breakdown after 24 years in service. In this year, there were a total of 25 breakdowns. Most severe breakdown that happened 3 times in a week. The Circle Line breakdown then another 2 breakdown are from the North-South Line. There were criticism to the company of the Mass Rapid Transit. There were also callings wanting the CEO to step down. I feel strongly that the CEO had to clear up such mess rather than apologize to the passengers. The company and the government should start working closely (which they are now doing so) to check the root of such failure.

Anyway, this is the summary of the headlines of this year, 2011

It's a relief that I passed my driving test. After so many months of spending my money away for each lesson, I finally get my licence. Thinking back, it was stressful and I have to manage my time well between my Final Year Project, studies and my driving lesson. It was very difficult to actually find time.

Although I failed once, I feel like giving up. Encouragement by my friends and my family, I continue to work for it. In 3 lessons, I managed to passed. Feeling happy for myself and also thankful especially to my instructor and my family. Although my instructor is strict, he teaches well.

Lastly to say 'Thank You' to all of you! I love u!!!

Coming to the very last semester...

Today as usual going to school attending lectures and tutorial. Lesson, lesson, lesson...

During Mr. David Seow's lesson, I reflect a lot on where to go after graduation from polytechnic. What I actually want in life? Today, he talked about going for further studies after getting a diploma.

From his information, I knew that for my course, if going for further studies in NUS, we have an advantage in taking Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering. If to choose Civil Engineering between NUS and NTU, taking Civil Engineering in NUS will be a better choice.

Moreover, I finally understand 'First Class Honors' means. It actually means a title awarded to person to did very well in its course. The same understanding to Second Class and Third Class Honors. In Singapore, results tabulated by percentile which may be means moderation. (I think so)

Actually to me, I'm still thinking which course to take but mostly likely is NTU course. I've to apply during January 2012!! Like I always say, I want to take a course which I'm able to have more career opportunities. (means to have a larger field to work in)

Recently, I faced a lot of ups and downs but I'm still able to survive and remembering the spirit of not giving up. I'm also thinking of setting up a food blog soon. Since I've been going many places to eat and know quite a number of food which is so called the best. Haha, hopefully I've time to do so:)

This year is quite a significant year because my lunar birthday and the birthday on the calendar itself has only one day difference.

My date of birth is 18 September.

(Year 2011, it falls on the Sunday)

My lunar birth date is 22nd day of the 8th month

(Year 2011, it falls on the Monday which is also 19th September)

Year after year, I'm already 19.

Last Saturday (17 Sept), my friends celebrated my 19th birthday. It was another unforgettable experience I ever had.

Never a Smooth Journey

Recently, I found a job. This is the job in related with the national examination. My job is just a runner helping out the markers carrying the tasks they assigned. Since it is confidential especially for exam matters, I don't wish to talk more about. I have been working since 31 August. My job ended just recently this week on Monday. I will be starting work again (same job) during October period.

Seriously, I have no idea whether I'm able to go with them to Taiwan or Hong Kong. I'm trying hard to work to earn more. However, paying my driving lesson is a heavy burden to me. Hopefully, I can go with them for the trip. What I feel good is that during the period where I'm still unable to find a job, they given me care and concern and told me that if I'm unable to get a job, they would help me pay my driving lesson and also told me that it's not a big deal if I'm unable to get a job. :)

Past is the past. What's important is the future ahead of you. Yes, truly, there are many things I hope that I will go through smoothly like the driving test taking place at the end of this month! (left 1 week plus to go) Jiayous, kianpeng!!

Next, I also hope that I'll did well for this semester, results will be out this coming Friday!!

There are things I look forward to. For example, this week itself is my birthday. I'll be having a ktv session and a movie with my secondary school friends. I realized that they are still the best, these years of friendship worth it. (at lest 6 years of friendship worth it! :D)

Yesterday night (1 September), swearing in of the 7th President, Dr. Tony Tan took place. Mr. S R Nathan would retired from the office and Dr. Tony Tan would take over and serve our nation.

Former Singapore Presidents:

Mr. Yusof Bin Ishak (1910 - 1970)

[3 December 1959 - 23 November 1970]

He became the first Yang di-Pertuan Negara in 3 Dec 1959 when Singapore became a self-governed country.

9 August 1965 where Singapore became an independent and sovereign state, he became the first President of the Republic of Singapore. He was re-appointed for another 4 years on 4 Dec 1967.

However, he passed away during his term in office on 23 November 1970.

Dr. Benjamin Henry Sheares (1907 - 1981)

[2 January 1971 - 12 May 1981]

He was elected by the Parliament as the 2nd President of the Republic of Singapore.

He held in its office until his death on 12 May 1981.

Mr. C V Devan Nair (1923 - 2005)

[23 October 1981 - 28 March 1985]

He was elected by the Parliament the 3rd President of the Republic of Singapore.

He served as the President until his resignation on 28 Mar 1985.

Dr. Wee Kim Wee (1915 - 2005)

[2 September 1985 - 1 September 1993]

He was elected by the Parliament the 4th President of the Republic of Singapore on 30 August 1985.

In January 1991, Singapore Parliament amended the constitution and allow for the direct election of the President. As an elected President, he would have the right of veto over civil service appointments and hold the second key of the government reserves. (6-year term for an Elected President)

Dr. Wee decided not to enter his candidacy and he decided to retired once he completed his term in office.

Mr. Ong Teng Cheong (1936 - 2002)

[1 September 1993 - 31 August 1999]

He was the first Elected President and the 5th President of the Republic of Singapore.

During this election, there were 2 candidates participated. Mr. Ong himself and Mr. Chua Kim Yeow, a former accountant general.

Mr. Ong won the election by about 300, 000 votes.

Mr. S R Nathan (1924 - present)

[1 September 1999 - 31 August 2011]

He was the 2nd Elected President and the 6th President of the Republic of Singapore.

During the Presidential Election in 1999, he was elected unopposed on Aug 18, 1999.

When his 6-year term in 2005 was up, he seeking for re-election as a President. He submitted its application to the Election Department. On 13 Aug 2005, the Election Department issued a Certificate of Eligiblilty to Mr. Nathan. Although there were three people submitted their forms, the Elections Department only issued it to Mr. Nathan. Since he was uncontested in 2005, he was re-elected again for another 6-year term.

On July 2011, he decided not to seek another term in office because of its age considerations. He retired from office in 31 Aug 2011.

Dr. Tony Tan Keng Yam (1940 - present)

[1 September 2011 - present]

He was the 3rd Elected President and the 7th President of the Republic of Singapore.

During the Presidential Election in 2011, he was completing with three candidates. This election was known to be the most competitive election in 18 years!

Dr. Tony Tan won by only 0.34% and elected as the next President of the Republic of Singapore.

0800 - A total of 781 polling stations are opened. They are located at school, community centres and void decks.

1700 - Elections Departments announced that 83.44% of 2.27 million eligible voters have cast their votes

2000 - All Polling Stations are closed and ballot boxes are sealed. They are bought to the 162 counting centres.

(Once ballot boxes are bought to the counting centres, counting of the votes started.)

2236 - Presidential Candidate Mr. Tan Kin Lian has conceded defeat. According to report from Channel NewsAsia, he said that after his visit to the third counting stations, it is hard for him to win this election. He also said that it is tough fight between the two top candidates.

(There were many rumors about who these two candidates are, many might have realized that it could be Dr. Tony Tan and Dr. Tan Cheng Bock)

We will be welcoming a new President very soon. Tomorrow will be the polling day! Which Mr. Tan will be our 7th President and the 3rd Elected President?

Mr. S R Nathan is the 6th Head of State and also the 2nd Elected President. He was not elected by the people because in 1999, he was the only candidate qualified by the Presidential Elections Committee. Hence, he serves its term from 1 September 1999.

In 2005, where his 6-year terms was up. As the Presidential Elections Committee determined that no other candidates satisfied the qualifications prescribed by the Constitution, Mr. S R Nathan considered or to say declared to be unopposed. He was been re-elected again in 2005 and ending its term in August 2011.

Due to its age, he decided not to serve its 3rd term in the office. Over the 12 years, he was quite a popular President. He was also the first President who unlock the past reserves during the 2009 Global Financial Crisis.

This is the very first time where there are 4 candidates participate in the Presidential Election. In these few days, there are many people think about the power that a President have. There are candidates clarified what they believed to be the powers of a President. What exactly a President do? What's his power?

A President's powers can be classified into two main parts.

1) He may exercise his own discretion without consulting the Council of Presidential Advisers (CPA) but he must follow the guidance by the CPA.

2) He may exercise only under the advice of the Cabinet.

There are arguments among the candidates about the powers of a Elected President. Rules and Powers of a President can never be change. In conclusion, voters must think carefully during voting because what they delivered now may not be able to come true because the powers of a President is still limited.

Coming next week will be a very busy week where all the tests and presentation happen on that very week. Hopefully everything goes well. After next week, my holiday finally starts. I finally can enjoy my holidays. Since the start of the internship, I do not really have the chance to rest.

Final Year Project which takes place only 9 weeks. Our group topic is Rock Dumping Fall Pipe Vessel. It is quite amazing we finish by the 8th week which is this week. Other than project, 2 more modules to be taken. That's was difficult. Managing time between study and project was the most difficult part. There were times of unhappiness among the group but never give up, we finally did it!

Anyway thanks to our leader, Shawn and also my group members, Dong Jin and Sithu. Good Job, Guys! We finally did it finishing our model. That is a miracle!!

It's the 46th National Day next week. Singapore, happy birthday!!

46 Years of Nation Building is short but we overcome quite a lot of challenges. What we have today is not only our government but also our people. Bear in mind that we must passed down perseverance spirit to our next generation.

Never Easy

Since after internship, life goes on in school as per normal. Although the modules in this semester is lesser but time is limited, what we left is only half of the semester to finish and pass all the modules.

Recently, I start to get stress up by many many modules. There are many assignments are due very soon. Next week, there will be Final Year Project (FYP) presentation, Floating Production Technology assignment and presentation, theory test on Floating Production Technology and Project Management..

I start to realized how fragile our friendship are going through the process of FYP. Although how inefficient some of my group members are, I tried my best to control all my anger. I also realized that what my senior said is very true. Remembering he said, "FYP is a test of our friendship."

There are a lot of things happened recently. For today, I finished a model (accommodation block). Due to the height of the model, I have to redo it again. And that I have wasted my weekend. Although I did not really feel good about redoing it but I have no choice. I can say it's my wrong to give attitude of not feeling good about redoing it. So sorry, Shawn! I can understand. There are many things we have to do and a lot is meeting the deadline soon.

My hope now is to finish the model by this week. Although chances to finish are very slim but we have to do it!

End of Internship

Time flies and 12 weeks of internship has come to an end!
During these 12 weeks of internship, I learn a lot from many of them. I did quite a few assignments like the Floating Storage Offloading (FSO) Conversion, designation of Padeye, calculation on the process of lifting and the cage detailed drawings. Out of these few assignments, my favourite is the FSO conversion. The Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC) tanker is being converted to FSO. The only thing I do not really like is time-consuming but after doing this assignment, I feel kinda of achievement. Such achievement cannot be experienced in school!
There are many people who I like to thank! It's all in my report...

"Firstly, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the personnel in Engineering Design Office (EDO) for their friendliness and patience guidance in these 3 months of my internship.

Next, I would also like to thank all the personnel in the HULL Team especially Mr. Slyva, Mr. Lowell, Mr. Jason and Mr. See.

Mr. Slyva and Mr. Lowell are the experts in drafting. With their guidance, I learn a lot especially in the use of the software. Although there are times where they are busy, they sacrificed their time and put aside their work to answer my questions. I would like to thank Mr. Jason giving me this opportunity to take part in this conversion FSO project. Although there are few companies wanting this project, he gives me confidence and let me do the project. I truly respected him of his courage in letting me to do the project. Through the whole process, he given me a lot of guidance and given me an idea of how working life inside EDO is like. Mr. See was once a polytechnic student. He knows what I wanted and gives me advice to help me do well and excel. He is also the one who gives me guidance in my detailed drawings.

Thirdly, I would also like to specially thank my mentor Ms. Ho Hyan Hui. She has been given me guidance in the project and information that I wish to know. She also shared with her life experience. It truly makes me think what kind of career I should purse in the future. She gives me opportunities to learn more like drawing the details of the cage. Although she is always busy with her work, she would always come round and make sure that I’m alright with my work and on the right track.

After the 3 months in EDO, I gain a lot from many of them. I not only gain their knowledge but also their life experience. Such knowledge and experience cannot be learn in school. This is truly a chance to know how working life is and to build up my character.

Last but not least, I like to thank everybody in EDO especially Ms. Margret for the coffee that I drink everyday! I wish the EDO able to achieve a greater height in the future and wishing the staff to with great health and all the best for the conversion team!

In this election, PAP have a decrease in supporting votes as compared to the last election in 2006. As you can see from the result, PAP won at about 50% to 65% at an average. As comparing last few past election, this year result seems to be disappointing.

I feel that PAP should start doing something to win people's heart and most important thing is to hear what people say. Truthfully, PAP really done a lot to tackle the problems the world today like prices of food, transport, housing going up and up. There are many people around me feel PAP did not really done a lot to help. We must know prices going up is not only we face but many other countries do like China. Do not think the government did nothing! Why people think that PAP did nothing? In actual fact, they did a lot.

Most importantly, I think that people in Singapore must really know why PAP actually have certain policy like foreign talent. Foreigners are here not to compete for jobs etc. PAP have this policy because reproductivity is low, the ageing population is getting higher. We must KNOW what are the reasons behind in introducing the policy before actually we say the government did not help us! Think properly before you criticise the government!

Coming back to the election, the most saddest thing is that they lose Aljunied GRC given the people vote of 45. 29%. That is really sad because we lost a talent in governing country. In Aljunied GRC, 3 out of 5 are high ranked ministers and they are George Yeo, Lim Hwee Hua and Zainul Abidin Rasheed. It is a pity to lose such talent. What I don't understand is that why the people there unable to cherish such thing! The Prime Minister actually send such good and to say BEST candidate there to fight but why so unfair! As comparing to the opposition send there, I would feel they are better. If I'm to vote, I would vote for them. :)Seriously, feel so sad for the 3 ministers there. Anyway, take care!

Today is the last day to have rally!
Tomorrow (6 May) is the cooling-off day.
All candidates are NOT allow to carry out rally, visiting of homes and workplaces of voters in connection with election, holding on to the party flag, publicizing and advertising of election posters etc and NO election meeting to be held
This is under the Parliamentary Election Act
(The above prohibition applied to the cooling-off day, the day before polling day and the polling day itself)

There are many questions that the opposition parties asked the government. There are some questions actually the government are trying to face.
Example:
Opposition Party: HDB flats too expensive
Remembering that if flats are worth, selling it one day will help you earn. From what Mr. Lee Kuan Yew did say flats are property for you, we want to make your property worth of money so government trying hard to make it worth like building MRTs near your house, having lifts to stop at every floor, building covered walkway etc.

I can really say voters must really think which government able to lead them through. There are uncertainties in the future. It is important for voters to choose their future.

The last Parliament is held on 12 Apr. This could be the last time held before election. The 11th Parliament would soon be dissolve and carry on is the General Election. The only thing now is to wait for the governing party, People's Action Party (PAP) call for the election.

Recently, PAP also introduce about 24 new members. These 24 members could be the ones who led the next generation and the future of Singapore. As mentioned in the last post, one of them could be our next Prime Minister.

It's coming to the week 6 of the internship!! Time flies!
Spending that whole 5 weeks of the internship, I finish the project given, the Floating Storage Offloading (FSO) Conversion. The ship here is a VLCC tanker and is now for conversion. There are currently two companies wanting to this project. Hopefully, my internship company can get this project. That really spend a lot of time.

Still thinking whether her to work in this department...I'm still not very sure is it suitable for me because for the past weeks, it's like boring, the only word to describe. Working here is like working almost 7 days or everyday. It's all about time management, that's only thing I can say. Although salary in market rate is high and bonus is so HIGH. Thinking about the future, I think that if to work here, I most likely will work maybe 2 years minimum or maximum 4 years. Still, I think it is best to get a degree for myself. For the competitive society today, I still feel that it's better to get a degree. So work hard and strive hard today to get into a local university if possible:) Jiayous!

I also don't know why I have this feeling yesterday when I went out to discuss for my Final Year Project. I have a sudden feeling of outcast, don't know why?! I have a feeling that they treated me as a transparency, why nobody bother to talk to me!? Anyway, so be it. What to do? Sometimes, do really feel secondary friend seem to be better to me, at least they really bother me, talk to me. Although their plannings in outings is a little boring, they at least talk and joke to me. Plannings in outings is always movies then dinner. Hopefully they change. Haha. Coming back to topic, poly friends. I can say at least plannings in outings at least better. But don't know why only yesterday I feel I am a transparency guy. Feeling quite sad, this is why emo! Telling me to join in?! How to join in to your talk? It's like nobody really care even if I talk! Why bother?! Sometimes, I do really feel one thing is it because of my character, it is because too quiet or is it because too fierce? I don't know??

I do really have plans for future but after yesterday feeling. I give a deep thought. Initial plan to have chalet in around September which is after Final Year Project and the Internship. Having such experience, is it possible to start or not?

Vote for which party?
In these few weeks, People Action's Party (PAP), the governing party start to introduce newcomers. Out of these newcomers, there will be one person who will be our very next Prime Minister (PM). The 4th PM in maybe next 5 or 10 plus years. This is important. The next PM must have a strong leadership in order to bring the country forward and become more prosperous.
People predicted that May 7 could be the polling day. If that is so, nomination day will be in late April and somewhere in mid-April or so, the Parliament will dissolve and start the General Election.

Recently, I start thinking...
is it true that you are good-looking, you are able to find any girls who you love easily?
Sometimes, I do feel partially true because from the experience that I have with friends or etc, it is always the case that good-looking guys find their lover easily! Why is that so? Is it true to say girls go for good-looking guys? If that's is true, life is so sad and unfair to many people...
Maybe because of jealousy, why good-looking guys able to attract the opposite easily without any 'technique' so called in attracting the opposite sex.
Anyway, be more optimistic! Maybe to say not all girls look for in guys is their looks! It takes time but do not feel sad. There will be a way she will appear and look for you, haha!

That is really fast! Internship coming..is tomorrow! Make money is important but make sure you have learn something from it!

Electoral Boundaries

The General Election is coming soon.
Today, the Elections Departments declared the Electoral Boundaries in this coming election. In this coming election, there will be 12 single members and 15 Group Representatives Constituencies. From previous election in 2006, there is an increase in number of single wards and a smaller GRCs where there will only be one GRCs having six candidates, the rest will be four or five.
The new single member in this election are Whampoa, Yuhua, Mountbatten, Radin Mas. Hong Kah North, Pioneer, Punggol East and Sengkang West.
GRCs are mainly Sembawang, Chua Chu Kang, Bishan-Toa Payoh etc.

Signs of Election??
Since the electoral boundaries report has being announced, the polling day will take place anywhere in around 17 days to nearly six months. (From past election, the polling day will take place at this duration)
From what we can see now, budget 2011 debate will held in Parliament in this few weeks. It may last for about 2 weeks or so. Once after this, Parliament will dissolve and start the general election. From many predicted, the likely time for polling day is end of April to early May.

Budget 2011
Today, the government announce its budget for this year. The Finance Minister unveiled 6.6 billion dollars worth of package, it focus mainly on the middle and low-income earners.
Out of $6.6 billion worth package, about $3.2 billion will be set aside for households especially middle and low-income earners. The rest of the package will focus on longer term in social well-being.
In this budget 2011, there are quite a number of changes:
Example,
Radio and TV license will be remove with effect from January this year. Those pay for the fee will be return by April.
Spending of $10 billion in upgrading the flats
More financial help to the first time buyers of flats
Employer CPF contributions will increase by another 0.5 per cent to 16 per cent.

Last Day!!
Yeah! This is the last day of the term. It's kind of sad because my Year 2 in polytechnic is going to end. Once after my exam, I'm coming to the next level.
Today is quite a long day for me, from morning, having lesson till afternoon, from afternoon, went out with friends. Arriving back home tired and happy is already very late..
In the afternoon, I went out with my friends for a KTV session. For that 3 or 4 hours session, we sing quite a lot of Chinese songs. I don't feel like listing them all. Anyway, this is my first time going to KTV. That was quite a happy and unforgettable experience.
Anyway, this is fun hoping one day there will be a chance to do that again. Feeling such a relaxed after singing quite a number of songs.

Today, 15 Feb is a day where all Singaporean must remember...
Remember on that day in 1942, it is the first day of Lunar New Year. The day where all Chinese celebrating a new year. However, this is not the day for celebration. It's the day where Singapore fall into hands of Japanese and also the start of the darkest period that our forefathers faced.

As a Singaporean, we MUST NOT take for granted and be complacent for the peace and harmony that we have today. This is a day we remember and never to be forgotten!

In another week, we will be celebrating our NEW YEAR!!
In these last few weeks, I have been spending my weekend shopping.
My first shopping day started with is at Bugis. On the same day, I went to town and started my shop from Far East Plaza to Plaza Singapura! That was the first time I walked so far!! Hahas. The saddest thing was that I did not buy anything.
The next shopping day took place yesterday. It's another day where I walked from Far East Plaza to Plaza Singapura. Feeling hopeless after I passed by almost maybe hundreds of shops?! Luckily, I finally bought my clothes at Plaza Singapura. Initially wanting to buy clothes from Net because Andy working there and confirm got discount. However, I did not find the type of clothes I wanted. Anyway , I bought a grey shirt cost me 49 dollars!

That was fast! Next Saturday (29 Jan 2011), I will be having my Calculus Exam!! Hope to get a good result. At least an A can help me in my elective! Last 2 electives, I got the same result which is B+. Haiz, hope for the better! Jiayous!

Walking through so many shops and malls, we started to talk about some plans. We decided to save some money for our trip to Taiwan or Hong Kong maybe around next year. By next year, my polytechnic years have been ended and should be waiting for my NS and to get mt diploma.

Year after year. This was scary. I hope that I can control the time. I missed the times in secondary school and my very first year in polytechnics where I meet the 'FAERIES' out there..hahas

Chinese New Year is coming in another 10 days!!

It's another year! 2011! <3
I start to think of my targets this year, it seem to me that my targets are still the same as last year. Sometimes, I do feel a little hopeless. I can hope one day it will come true:)

New Year Resolutions:
1. Hoping that my lover will appear soon and can start my first relationship
2. Score well for this year especially in internship and final year project
3. Hope that I can get my driving license asap.
4. Learn how to plan my finance and learn how to invest

Yeah that is 2011 NEW YEAR RESOLUTIONS!!
Just to update: Today, we have a picnic at Sentosa. Although it rains for several times, all of us have fun and have a good time:):) I can only say this is the best thing to start with in a new year!!

In 2011, what will be happening in Singapore?
1) There could be General Election at around April to May.
Why this is so? Singapore have to hold its election latest by Feb 2012. In this coming year, we can see that Singapore government will announce the budget in 2011 at around Feb to Mar. Election cannot hold at this times. At about July to August, there is President Election. This election have to hold latest by this year. Our President have finish its 6 years term by 2011 September. Hence, there is a need to hold election. To benefit the governor party, the best times will be in 2011 Apr to May.
2) There will be also the President Election. Taking place somewhere in July or August. Mr. President have done its 6 years term. It term end in September 2011.
Take Note: Mr. President ( S. R. Nathan) started its term in September 1999. Due to changes of President elected term, his first six years terms ended in 2005. He was elected again in the next term.
Will there be changes this year? A change in our President? Will Mr. President being elected again for another 6 years term?
3) There will also be F1 race this year. Taking place at4) around September.
4) For movies in 2011? Coming up maybe Pirates of the Caribbean 4 (around May), Kung Fu Panda 2 (around May), Hang Over 2 (around May), Cars 2 (around Jun), Transformer 3 (around Jul), Paranormal Activity 3 (around Oct), Happy Feet 2 (around Nov), Alvin and the Chipmunks (around Dec), Sherlock Holmes 2 (around Dec), etc. The starring dates of movie may not be true, please take note of it.

The Earth rotates and rotates and we did not even realize it.
Thinking of this current year, there are many things to reflect and learn from.

In 2010...
In the month of March, I went Wuhan. China for Oversea Immersion Programe. That was most happy memories. I have make a lot of friends there. Most importantly, we learn to adapt the environment there which we are not used to. This was the best memory ever!!! Although there were happy and sad memories there, but it's still the best after all.
Coming back to Singapore in April, I start to fall in love in someone. Anyway, I fail. Forget it. I can only tell myself that she will regret one day.
The school life started. That was also my start of second year in polytechnics. Everyday seem to be boring and nothing exciting about. I also start to make a new friend. The Mr. Muscle. Still, the most joking memories is when we joke about one of our lecture. Imitation of our lectures' voice become so common.
Holiday started in August due to YOG. I started working as a 'lawful debtor' in a company, Noel Gift. In this company, I learn a lot especially doing with finance. From there, I also earn a lot!! Months passed by, I have worked until the next semester which is nearly the end of October.
In September, my friends celebrated my 18th birthday. I am quite touched and happy. Anyway, thanks for organizing a BBQ for my birthday!:)
In October, my second semester start. School life begins again.This is the most challenging semester ever. Stress, Stress and Stress. Deciding on our Internship and Final Year Project are the most difficulty options to choose. Anyways its over, so be it.
Recently, I'm having Common Test. My last paper will be this Friday!! Two weeks break will be coming.

Omg! It's been a month since I update my blog. I can't believe it either. Since the school reopen, there are so many things needed to be complete! Assignment, tutorials, online quiz etc.
Still, the busiest week is this week. Due to that stupid e-learning, there are a lot of assignments that need to be done. It's like so stress! Quizzes coming in the following week. It's time to study!! Recently, there was MOT camp which started from Friday night to Sunday morning. But I did not attend although my role is a GL. This is because...there are many assignments incomplete and quizzes in the following week. Actually that was only part of the reason that I did not attend. It all started two weeks ago where I went for GL camp. In the camp, games have to tested before the actual day. Before everything ends, the main committee have to choose 12 GL from the people who is in the GL camp. In the end, I'm not chosen. My friend actually explain to me. I'm glad and pleased for his explanation. I give a thought to it. In the end, my decision is final. My thought was that even my friend given this role as a GL for me but I somehow feel that he is abusing his authority as a organizer and I feel more 'extra' to be there. Maybe to say I still need 'face'! Anyway sad that I wasted my $10!! Fuck the camp!!
In the weekend, my friends and I went SITEX 2010 (IT Show). Whoo, there are so many cheap IT products there! I bought a hard disk for myself. These hard disk is to store all my photos. Lucky to say is cheap! It's $59.90 for 320GB external hard disk! :)

This week is like my busiest week and I don't feel such stress before. I hope that I can complete them at the dateline given.
Time seem not waiting. In just one or two days, another month coming, that will be LAST month of the year!! The 2nd year is polytechnics is going to end soon. I start to think of my first day in polytechnics, start to think of how the 'faeries' come together. Hoping we can be FRIENDS FOREVER!!
Anyway, I hope my sister to have a fruitful and memorable trip to Taiwan!!! :]

好舍不得哦！
It's like almost everyday I have been working. Almost everyday, taking the same bus and doing my job have been my daily procedure. Although feels boring, I have reached the target I wanted. Yesterday was my last day of work. I start to regret why I have not been cherish the time there. Time is time, we can't control! Anyway, I would remembered them forever. They are the ones who give care and concern to me when I have been alone. For months, I have been alone after my friend resigned from work. However, I know they are the best. I hope to come back soon and help them again!!!
These 2 months was really a good experience and it was the best times there. Anyway, a good news is that my boss tell me to help them in the next holiday which will be my two weeks break, 20 December to the end of this year. Yeah, I'm so happy and I would be back very soon!

It's been some time since I update my blog...
In these few weeks of the holiday, I spend most of my time working. In this period of time, I learn and find out quite a lot from them.
I also realized one thing that makes office work to be boring because almost everyday, you have to do almost the same thing everyday. Hence, for people who actually like challenges in job, office work may not be suitable.
After these 2 months of working, I finally get the pay I wanted and I have reach my own target which is thousand plus. Totally up the 2 months pay, I have reach about one thousand and one hundred dollars. I'm quite happy working there although my workplace is at the east side.
The school is reopening soon. This semester coming will be my last semester for my second year in polytechnics. Very soon, my third year will be coming and it is also the time to think of my future. Is it possible to go university? What degree course should I take?
Hopefully everything goes well smoothly next semester. Hope to achieve my best again! ^_^

18th Birthday

Time flies and today is my 18th birthday...
On Monday (13 Sept), my friends had already celebrate my birthday in advance. They celebrated so early because my friend will be going for its Overseas Immersion Program (OIP) in India on 15 Sept. Although I have to work on that day, I still try my best to come down. Anyway thanks to them. (Eric, Bo Liang, Jie Wi, Wan Hao)

Yesterday night, my friend organized a BBQ at his house. Actually, I thought it was just a BBQ but I don't know that they were celebrating my birthday. It was also a miracle that all 8 Faeries turn up. The name of '8 Faeries' came out by Andy. The 8 Faeries consists of 8 persons. They are Andy, Kenney, Fazwin, Hakim, Wei Jun, Shawn, Jia Qi, KianPeng. Anyway, a very thank you to all of them especially Kenney who actually organized this BBQ. Also I want to thank the following people who had turn up and celebrate my birthday. (Andy, Fazwin, Hakim, Kenney, Shawn, Jia Qi, Wei Jun, Ilyana, Dong Jin, Matthew) To tell the truth, for so many years of celebrating my birthday, you all are first ones who sang birthday song to me.

Since the start of the yog break, I have been working. Working in the office for 8 hours from monday to friday. Although the rate is not so high but at least I have money to earn and spend. Counting from 11 August (the day I start my work), I have working for 5 days already and should be earning about two hundred plus. I don't know whether to say is a good or a bad job because there is CPF for this job. This means what we earn in total, 20 per cent is in our CPF account.
I recently applied for F1 waiter job. The rate for this will be higher. I feel great because more money put inside the pocket! Of course to say this job will also have CPF.
By calculating what I earn till October where my school start, there should be a thousand plus! At least happy to say I earn some money for myself:):):)

I don't why I feel this way. The feelings that I have at that point of time is so difficult to describe. Remembering that night after supporting Faz in his performance, we were on the way to bus stop. At the bus stop, my friends actually encourage me to chase after her. I don't why I didn't go at that time. I was thinking since we already break up, why should I go for her? Thinking back, I'm wrong. I should go after her and at least make friends with her. Maybe that's a bit too late to say that.

Just last Sunday, we went volunteering in Singapore General Hospital. That was my very first time in doing volunteering. It actually make me nervous because it was my first time and I had no idea how to interact with them. Lucky, as a group, we went through the wards and the rooms and had a singing performance. The song that we actually repeated the most times was 'It's All About You'. I'm quite happy after seeing patients putting a smile on their faces.

Suddenly, I start to have interest in how to make money grow more and more. I think if I have time, I need to check it out, what are things that I can do to earn more money. I also want to learn the techniques in investment especially shares or maybe property.

When I'm back from China, my father asked me whether I want my uncle to be my godfather. I'm quite surprised about hearing this. I don't whether to agree with it. After some thoughts, I still agree to it.
After I agree, choosing of dates and buying fruits which will be offer to the gods are essential. Last Sunday (4 Jul), my godfather and I prayed to the god and told them I would be his godfather from this very day onwards. This will be a day that I will never forget.

It's been some time since I blog.
For the past weeks, I feel so bored and wonder what to do. I can only do is to wait for call. I have apply for the NDP tickets. Feeling sad because there is no received call from them. However, it doesn't matter to me because it is my first time applying for the tickets. It is expected that I'm not able to get the tickets.
Since I have nothing to do, I help my sister to make friendship pen. Friendship pen is difficult to make:(, it need a lot of patience to do. Lucky is that I have something to do if not very bored!
Now, looking forward is only a few things..
hope that fate can help me meet a girl I love:):):)

I'm feeling very disappointed, how can she treated me like that? The most disappointing thing is that she did not tell me personally even I'm standing in front of her! She only tell me by sms through her friends. I'm feeling angry because why she don't tell me personally? Why, why, why? I hope that I will not see her again because it makes me feel more hurt after all. Now, I understand the feeling of rejection by someone. The most strangest thing is that I did not make any progress with her and rejection is the answer from her.
What can I do now? I have no choice, maybe that is fate. Suddenly, I feel a loss because she is the girl I love in my poly life. I wonder when can I meet another one?!
It's time for me to let go and concentrate on my common test next week. It's time to recover and lead a new life.

Dr Goh Keng Swee (1918 - 2010), a father of Singapore passed away last Friday (14 May) at a age of 91.
He was a person who develop Singapore into a prosperous nation today. In his years in the political, he contribute greatly to Singapore. He was once a minister in finance, education and defence.

He was given the duty as a minister after Singapore gained its self-government. As a Minister of Finance, he make every Singaporeans life better by creating more jobs and creating a place for industries. Jurong is a place where he develop for industries. This was not enough, he also drew in more and more foreign investments to Singapore. That is why we have a strong economy today!

Singapore gained independence and he was a Defence Minister. As we have in our Social Studies, he was the one who created National Service (NS) and why is that so? We also learn that at that time, Singapore had a very little population, manpower also needed in industries and etc.

He was also a Minister of Education. He was the one who set up a better education system. He set up streaming and religious class to solve the drop out rate of students.

His last post was given as a Deputy Prime Minister in 1980. He decided to retire from politics in 1984 which actually shocked many people especially the ministers etc because of his great contribution to the nation.

As a Singaporean, we must remember him forever. He was the one who build Singapore. Without him, many Singaporeans will not have such good quality of life today. We must cherish what we have today, a good life, a good living environment, a good education etc.

In this week itself, there are two highlights which I remember it forever. First, the performance. This performance is a kind of interaction with the local students here. Next, the Mt. WuDang. I will remember that place forever because that is the first time climbing so many flights of stairs. To tell the truth, when you reach the top, you will feel very happy because you have accomplised the task and you have reach the highest limit in your life of climbling a mountain. I love that place:) Overall, that week is full of challenges but we mange to overcome it. This is one of the greatest achievement that I get in all of my life!

The above photos are the first two weeks of our trip. Our first school outing is the three gorges which is the second week of the trip. On the second week, our lesson start. Our core module, strength of material (SOM) is teach by our lecturer, Dr Tan. For our IS module, it is teach by a local lecturer there. Marks are taken note by our own lecturer. In our IS module, we have to write our pre-trip learning plan, journal can be daily or weekly, a post-trip presentation and a post-trip report.

Yesterday night is a day that I will remember!

12 April 2010, 2130 Hr, Singapore International Airport
That is a day and time, our flight landed and we are back to our homeland! I've been waiting for this day for a long time. Although there is a small delay, coming back home here feel great! The flight is delay at Guangzhou Airport. The delay is about 45 minutes before the flight actually takes off. If there is no delay, we have already reach Singapore 45 minutes earlier which is about 8.45pm. That is the time we supposed to arrive. Due to these small delay, my parents and friends actually waited for us quite long. In the end, I'm back home at about 11pm. That is very late indeed:(

It's been a month or so staying in China. There are many ups and downs here. I finally realized the true meaning of friendship. Staying together for more than a month, we know each other more.

There are lots of feeling in my mind right now.I don't know whether to be happy or not. I'm happy because it is time for me to go back home.However, I also miss here, the friendly people here like the milk tea auntie in the canteen, the family in Halal stall and the street hawker.

There is a lot of good experience I have here. I not only learn their culture and also the good learning points.

Today is also the presentation day. After today, that will be the end of our lesson. We will going back SINGAPORE soon! I can't wait for that day to come!

Time flies quickly. I've been here in China for one month. Is it a coincidence? Today is 2nd of April, it mark the first month in China!?
I start to miss my family and friends. I'm hoping that I can be at home, giving me their care and concern. This time leaving home to a far away home, I start to cherish many little things around me. When I'm back home in another week or so, I will definitely cherish my family.
The very next thing I miss also is Singapore food especially Hokkien Prawn Noodles, Hokkien Mee, Lor Mee, Mee Siam, Mee Rebus, Bak Kut Teh, Wantan Noodles, Chicken Rice and Nasi Lemark. Come to listing these things out, my saliva wanted to drop onto the ground! Yum,Yum:)
When I'm back,I hope to blog and share my exprience in China! See you!

Today is not my day:( I get back my common test paper and I am shocked. Why I get this result? Why? Why? Why? I'm unhappy with the result because this is the lowest result I ever got for all my common test paper! How could it be? I wanted to broke into tears but I forced myself not to.

Telling myself that this is not the end yet because there is still examinations. Hoping that my exam marks will push my marks up....

Maybe that's need time to recover, I will try. Most importantly, work for it!:)

That's the last day before I start my days in China. What I miss here, I make my wish come true! I realized one important point is that when you are dying or moving away or whatsoever, you will start to cherish things that you never cherish in the past. Like the situation I am in, I start to cherish more maybe in family and also the food here. I don't know why I start to cherish every single things. Humans are like that. I think that is only one reason. Maybe because I will be staying there for quite a long period (1 and a half month). The period there does matter.
Hopefully, when I get there, I able to accomplish something and make friends with them. Making friends is just like Singapore having a bilateral relation with a country.
Bye-bye! Hopefully I can blog when I'm back (12 Apr)!

Start the days in China

Tomorrow marks the end of the Chinese New Year (元宵节/ 灯节） and another few days, I will be in Wuhan, China for my Overseas Immersion Program (OIP). I will be taking two modules, Strength of Materials and Chinese Studies.
Before going to China for a month and a half, what I miss most here not only my family but the food here. Fried hokkien prawn noodle is one of dish that I miss most! There are much more different food that I miss. Yum, yum^^!
It's also time for me to pack my things into luggage.
I may not be able to blog for a month plus because of this OIP that I will be going...

Next month will be the 2nd anniversary of my blogging history! (since 2008)^^

Today marks the day where Singapore falls to the Japanese.
For today, it marks the 68th anniversary since the day in 1942.

This year is a significant year. Why?
On the day (15 Feb 1942), Singapore falls and it is also the first day of the lunar new year. After 68 years, the day happens to fall on the lunar new year.

Do remember:
Singapore is our homeland.
We must defend our country.
No matter through military, social, psychological, civil or economical.
Always prepare to defend our country!

On this coming lunar new year, there are many things that I hope for. I don't wish to list them one by one. I think I will just list a few of them. I hope that in this coming exams, I will do well and achieve a good GPA. Of course, I also hope my family, my friends and myself to have a good health. One last thing that I really hope is to have a girlfriend:) When my love life will start..I don't know either. I can only do so is to hope for it.

It is a coincidence that the lunar new year fall on the same day as the valentine day. The last time that happen is about 57 years ago. I can't believe it either. I only know it when I watch the news.

Is this a coincidence?
My examination will start once Chinese new year is over! That's fast! It is almost unbelievable. The most saddest thing is that the period of Chinese new year is very near to my examinations. The most shocking thing is that once my examinations is over, I will be going to China soon..

Yeah! :) We will welcoming the year of tiger soon. In just less than a week...Can't believe that time flies and another new year will be starting soon. Hoping a great year ahead and of course, hope that I can get a good GPA. :)

Melaka ^_^

Last Sunday (17 Jan), my family, friends and relative went to Melaka, Malaysia. It's been a long time since we went Melaka... Our main purpose is just to go to the temples and pray.

Most of the temples we visit are located at rural areas of Melaka. On the way to many temples, I saw many scenery which cannot be seen in Singapore.

It is obvious that we cannot find such scene in Singapore. We are not able to see people sailing in this kind of boat in a stream. Yes, maybe you can find this in Singapore about 40 or 50 years ago!

On the way to another temple, we saw a large number of cows. Unbelievable! This is the first time I saw so many cows together!

Due to time constraint, we unable to go the urban areas of Melaka. That's the thing I regretted most! HAIZ, hope to go there again ^_^

Since the start of the term, I have been very busy. Many projects will be due in 2 or 3 weeks time. Workplace Safety and CATS projects are the one are to be handed up in another 2 or maybe 3 weeks time. This is a tight schedule and only one word to describe is BUSY!
Recently,I just get back my common test paper. Quit happy with the results because both A+ :) Not only that, I just check the amount to pay for the trip to China. If not wrong, I need to pay $1, 250. For me, I think quite expensive although it is after subsidy :( However, my father encouraged me to go because he tell me that this is a rare opportunity. In the end, I decided to go..HAIZ
Hoping that projects and exams will soon end...

First day of course we had bbq. This year seem like last year...because we are not able to finish all the food! That was a waste!

We went cycling. We warm-up (cycling) at Pasir Ris Park before we accomplished our target where we will cycle to the East Coast Park (ECP)!
The night begins..
Our first destination is to reach Changi Village and take us about maybe half an hour only. That's not easy becasue we need to overcome slope and uneven roads. Everything that comes, we make it!
Our next destination is Changi Beach Park. (bottom pic). That secenery is beautuful! Such scene cannot seen in our daily lives. Such night scenery..I never forget!!:D

By 30 Dec, 3am...
We unable to reach ECP but we reach Bedok. I think we have already travel 20km from Pasir Ris all the way to Bedok North Rd. Due to time constraint, we did not go ECP so we decided to find a place to rest before going back. Desperately, we find Mcdonals which we can have our drink there...

What makes me feel great is that I never travel for more than 30km before (more than 3okm is that the total distance from Pasir Ris to Bedok and travel back to Pasir Ris)

Winter Solstice means the end of the winter. It also means that the spring will be coming very soon. By traditional, before this day comes, families would make as much 'tangyuan' as possible. 'Tangyaun' is actually a type of food which all families will eat on this day. This food also has its meaning! It represents the unite of the family (Tuanyuan) or the togetherness of the family.

So do remember on this day, be with your family and have dinner together! Have a good time and enjoy the time with your family!

The year 2009 is approaching the end very soon. For the past 1 year, there are definitely ups and downs. To tell the truth, I feel that for this year, there are more unhappiness than happiness. Many of my closed relatives passed away. It was sudden and shocking. Suddenly, I have this feeling that life is not that long, we should cherish day by day so that at the end of our life, we will not regret....
Today, I feeling great because it's the end of my common test. Hmm..I think I'm quite confident about the paper. I wonder how I did for the paper. Now, looking forward to buying a digital camera and going for chalet. Still, I look forward to next year and hope that 2010 will be a much more happier year. It's time not to look back at the past but look forward to the future.
For next year, there will not be 6 weeks of teaching weeks and it is quite short. Time usually flies. Not long, study and examination week comes. After this, I will be going Wuhan, China for OIP.

Today is the day where I will be back from the camp. I feeling very tired but quite worth because 1o dollars only. We are living in the Loft and it is like living in hotel. I can say is that this camp is very special...
Hmm... 20 Nov was the first day of the camp. One of the most memorable activity is the night walk. It's past midnight and we went to the 'haunted' place....At first was scared but at the later part, it was more like having fun than to scared all the way. Actually, before the night walk, we have ice-breaker games. This is the activity I became so famous! Haha! Given the nickname as 'teh ping'...
21 Nov - the day we are having all our high elements. Seriously it is a fun-filled activity but saddest thing is that..how come flying fox is not open?! Then, many activities after that....
One thing to remember was the night yesterday! Someone lost his very kiss to a girl he does not know at all! Andy, I feel so sad for you..haha!

Maybe everyone of you knows that the doomsday will be in 3 years time. It will fall at the end of year 2012. The day predicted is on the 21st December 2012. Is this really true?
The day predicted by a Mayan calendar. This calendar has been make in the ancient times. Sometimes we will also suspect that the ancient times and today's time may be a slight difference in hours, minutes or seconds. Is this a true prediction?
Showing evidence...It is also predicted that Indonesia would face a strong earthquake and a tsunami in year 2004 which would cause hundreds or thousands death. Very true! In December 2004, earthquake and tsunami happened to hit Indonesia! Many events that happened was already predicted.
It is also seen that in 2012, many countries will experience very strong earthquake and other disasters. Many countries will be flooded as well. Maybe see what will happen in 2012.
Before I end my post, there is a documentary that shown different so called 'fortune teller' in ancient times predict about the doomsday in 2012.

The day after tomorrow will be the start of the semester! Time really flies, my 7 week of holiday ended. Next semester, I will be taking one dp (diploma plus) and none other than the core module. Lucky or not to say that, my dp is workplace safety :) Of course, hope that next semester I will did much more better than the previous one!

Why I named this post as 'unfortunate'?
Yes, it is fortunate that it is my birthday and I like the feeling of people wishing me happy birthday. The celebrations has been planned and it will be next friday.
At the same time, it is unfortunate..why?
In the early morning, my grandfather passed away. It was sudden and most of us did not have the very last look of him. It was regretful! :( I know it only when my mother wake me up. It was too late, that's the only thing i can say...

Tomorrow is the special day for me as it is my 17th birthday. Yes, I feel happy, however, on that day, my exam result will be out. I have not much confidence about having a GPA of at least 3.5 and above. I think I can get maybe two As, the rest maybe Bs or Cs.
It's better not to think of that yet because birthday is much important than the results..hahha..
Tomorrow, I will be going out with the poly friends. It makes me a headache because I already give them the time and venue but they haven't reply me, that's worry. Haizz..hope they know it. For tomorrow, I have two choices to watch movie and maybe have lunch there, orchard or bugis but I do not know which one they want. Just leave it for tomorrow to decide!

A Long Time....

Wow! It's been a long time since I touched my blog.
Last week, I was ill and given two days MCs which lasted from monday to tuesday. That two days rest seem not to be good, my fever kept coming up and down and after that two days, still not recover until last friday, I went to see another doctor. I felt much more better but saddest thing is that I can't go to watch movies with friends..:(
Also in last week, the lecturer asked us whether we were interested in going to China for a learning trip. At there, we were able to complete two modules! Of course, I'm interested. Cost is about $2000 before subsidised by school. If I can pay this by PSEA, that will be great. We will be giving our reply by next week.
Oh! Today is Racial Harmony Day.On this day, it makes me remember the times in secondary school which we wear our costumes to school. Most important, on this day, we must remember the day in 1964!
Tomorrow will also be a day where there will be a solar eclispe! I definietly wake up early to watch the show which show the solar eclispe! That will be great! But sad that if it can be seen here in Singapore, that feelings will be great! :))

Just to update the situation in Singapore...
This is what I know from the government website...
For today, there are 95 new confirmed cases of h1n1 which bought the total from 220 to 315. 47 cases are being investigated. Out of these 47 new cases, 25 are local cases and 22 are imported cases. The government is still investigating the rest of the cases.
Just get the news in the late afternoon that, there are another 50 more confirmed cases and this bought the total confirmed cases from 315 to 365.

Influenza A H1N1 continue to spread round the globe. A few weeks ago, World Health Organization (WHO) raised its phase from five to six, the highest phase ever!

Malaysia Trip

Yesterday (21 June), my family and I went to Pontian, Malaysia in search of the king of the fruit, the durian. At this time of the year, the durians harvest will be at its very peak. Many other fruits like mangosteen, rambutans, bananas etc. will be seen everywhere at this period of time.

Shipyard Visit

Hey, this is my first time going to the shipyard! The unbelievable thing is that when I. myself at the shipyard, I feel extremely small! The ship and oil rigs will about a hundred or thousand times bigger than us and seriously, I can't believe it!
Today, a whole group of us went to one of the shipyards in Singapore, the Sembawang Shipyard. What I know is that, the shipyard is a naval base then back in the 1930s. The British sell over to Singapore government in just a dollar, now been developed as a shipyard doing some kind of business.
When we arrived, we were been briefed by the engineers there. Before we gone to a tour in the shipyard, we were asked to put on our helmet and goggles. The tour is by bus. If we were asked to come out from the bus, we were need to wear our goggles and helmets as a safety precaution. After the whole tour, actually, I don't understand much but I'm happy about going there.
Actually wanting to put some photos taken at the shipyard but the people there warned us that photos are not to be published on the website or blog or etc. I think there are some photos taken at the bus but these photos are with someone else.

It 's been a long time since I blog....
I actually heard from friends that they have lots of projects to do but for me is the reverse. It is far relaxed and I have only only 2 projects from IS and that's all.

Hey, although I'm not feeling quite well, the last lesson is a cool one. We have the chance to make our own ship. This is a practical session and is part of module, Naval Architecture. Seriously, it's fun!

Very disappointing after going for the cca yesterday. Maybe you think I'm very happy going that slack cca but seriously I'm not. Yesterday, they encourage us to join the ASUS and enjoy some kind of benefits. This company is selling all about the technologies etc. For me, I didn't want to register because I'm a computer idiot. Most of these kind of technologies, hardwares, softwares, I didn't even know them well. Telling me to join IT industry but you see, my career confirmed in marine industry, does it make sense? Only one thing make sense, I will be learning C programming maybe next year or so. If that's the case that I'm not joining the ASUS, my cca points come from only attendance. WHAT'S THE POINT? Come for the club meeting lasted 1 hour plus then go home. Tell that cca (computer club) to go and die. As you know, I have only IS module on thursday which is the day of the cca. It last from 8 to 12. Expecting me to wait for 6 hours for an hour plus cca club meeting, forget it! Seriously, freak me off.
I have two cca. One, computer club which freak me off. Second, astronomy club. I think I'll giving up one of them. Most likely, I'll give up computer club because that was really not my interest and...(refer to the above). Maybe I could not even reach a bronze in cca not even to say a gold, haizzz.
Very unhappy since yesterday.. :(

Swine Flu Spread Out

According to today news, the people who died of swine flu in Mexico have reached a total of 159 people. The government of Mexico has closed down many shops which are crowded to prevent any further spread of the flu.

Just on today news, the source of the swine flu is from U.S., a place where pigs were reared. According to the people living there, they did say that there had been a unpleasant smell from the place where pigs are reared. These pigs are belonged to a company. The residents did ask the company to make the environment more clean. Whether the people had ask for or not, it was too late because this flu had spread to many countries especially Mexico, Canada and U.S..

There were about 19 countries like Mexico, US, Canada, Israel, Germany (founded 1st flu cases), France etc. Some countries are either having suspecting cases or some kind of real cases.

Many countries started to be alert and carried out measures to prevent flu virus coming into their borders.

This is the first time waking up at such a early time...I reached school by about 7.40 am. and I started to search for my classroom. As time ticked by, I felt more worried and nervous because I don't want to be late for the very first day. Finally, I found my class. Going into the class was a strange place for me and it was a totally new environment.

My first lesson was engineering maths 2. I was thinking that how come I didn't take engineering maths 1 but skip to the next level. The lecturer started to do her teaching while I yawned softly in front of her. This goes on until my next lesson.

The only thing I find it troublesome is that every two or three hours lesson, I have to move round the campus in search for a new location. Still, looking forward tomorrow for other modules like naval architecture and etc.

Tsunami in Asia?

Just yesterday evening, I heard this news and I was quite shocked. On July 22, the day Singapore will face a disaster towards nature. It happened to be on the same day of the solar eclipse. An email was passing round a few day back and claim that there will be a disaster strike in Asia. Investigation of this email was now been done with the experts.

It might be real or just a false information trying to scare us. It's better to play safe than anything. Erm..This source can come from either those experts in fengshui or maybe fortunate tellers. However, many people thought this was just a email and should be a false information because many people don't believe in predicting their own future.

For more on this, the experts did say that for the past 110 years, there were 85 earthquakes which were very strong nearly more than 8 magnitude. Only 2 of these earthquakes happened on the same day as the solar eclipse.

I still feel strongly no matter what comes, it will still comes. Be more positive in our future and cherish what we have now. Until the day stroked, we should have no regrets!

Orientation Program

It's a day where my orientation program started...
Waking up at 7.30am, proceed to ngee ann poly...
Starting from 10am, the program started..There was nothing much at all and what made me even boring was their so called 'LAME' games. Seriously, I'm hoping that there they could have games that could make use of our brain. Their lame games seriously very disappointing!
More boring had yet to come..After this, address of a director... Wa Lao! That was really very boring! Talk and Talk again...Haizz!

Then, we were lead by the student leaders there and had a walk around the campus..taking us to different canteens, a place for relaxation, library and lecture room.

Next, we had our lunch. This was the worst food I ever tasted but no choice since it was free, I just swallowed all my food in disappointment. Noodles was tasted almost like the flour we used in our homes. Chicken was tasteless. I had no comments to the food, I could only say it was suck and yucky!

Proceeding to the course talk immediately after lunchtime...
Ohh yahh..Before I forgotten all the important dates, I better wrote it down in my blog..

It's been a year since I started blogging. Don't know why I started this and I also don't know that I have been blog for 1 year. Remember the day (which is today) last year, I started with my blog title as 'My First Blog'....I can say very lao tu leh giving such a title..hahahah

In the last few days, my extended family was busy preparing for Qing Ming Festival. Many things have to be prepared.....Food, Joss paper etc....So very sorry that I'm unable to go for a swim with some of you asking me to go for a swim...Seriously quite tired to go for a swim..last 2 days, I wake up early to go for pray. When I'm back, I already dead tired. So better not go for a swim..

Based on the article 'Currency Swings Cost Singapore' on straits times on 10 March 09, it is a surprise to Singapore that it become one of the top 10 most expensive cities in the world!
6 months ago, Singapore was ranked as the 15th most expensive cities in the world. Today, Singapore become on of the top 10 cities!

According to MM Lee, he expected that Singapore economic growth will shrink by at least 10 per cent.Due to the exportation of their goods kept falling sharply, Gross Domestic Product of Singapore will fall about 10 per cent. It is unexpected because earlier, the economist predicted that Singapore economic growth will shrink by 2.0 to 5.0 per cent. This prediction is done after knowing the economic growth of Singapore in 2008.

However, MM Lee says
"When they do recover, we'll bounce back faster than anybody else because three-and-a-quarter times our GDP is in external trade. So we just got to tough it out."

From what we know now is that once US, Middle East, Europe or other more developed countries recover, Singapore economy will definitely grow. However, it is a worry to other countries such as US. Since after Mr. Obama took over Mr. Bush's place, nothing much has been done to its economy...

A more worrying thing is that US jobless rate for February 2009 reach a highest rate. This is the highest since December 1983. This figures been done by the US Labour Department.

According to BBC news,
US Labour Department has calculated that the unemployment rate has reach its highest point of 8.1% which is bout 12.5 million people losing the jobs. Between each sectors, there will people trying to work part-time than full-time. Many companies had to save their cost by reducing more and more workers.

Don't know what will happen if US employment rate getting higher and higher. If this is so, many countries depending on them will suffer severely. It is either the fall of a country or people leaving their homeland to other countries for a support. Can't believe it, huh? Not trying to scare you, but this can be real!

The statement in BOLD is TRUE! Only Economic Giant do something, the world will be safe! In other words, if countries come together to overcome, global recession confirm will be over!!!

Every year, your family will receive a gong li (a type of calendar). This calendar is special in some ways. It can tell whether that particular year will be a rainy season or a dry season. This prediction i only start to know yesterday when my father's friend told us about it. This is a old prediction from our ansectors.

Picture below is a part of the 'gong li'

Do you realize one particular special thing? Of course, you don't! If you have 2008 'gong li', you will know about it! By comparison from 2008 'gong li', the man in 2009 'gong li' is wearing shoes while for 2008 'gong li', the man is barefooted!

I'm not very sure that whether wearing of shoes or barefooted meant that a particular year will be more of a rainy season than a dry season but i'll soon find out...

I think the answer for this should be...
Based on my own analysis, a man wearing shoes signifies that that year will be a dry season because wearing shoes is to protect the feet from being scorched by the heat. However, when a man is barefooted, that year will be more of a rainy season than dry season. If this is correct, that will be true!

Time flies...Time left before poly starts is about 2 months only...
What I'm hoping to do now is at least find a job and work for the last two months and hoping to earn some income. However, my hope failed, for the past 3 weeks, I'm sending in resumes through the Internet but nobody had called me..haizzz...maybe i have to think for another solution which is best for me...

Recently, my maternal grandfather is hospitalised. In the last 3 days or so, my family went to visit. I don't want to mention which hospital that grandfather is staying, but i can say the service is slow and stubborn. Giving some examples, when my grandfather needed for a 'small business' (you should know what was that), calling up a nurse is slow! I wonder that what if the patient having an 'urgent business', what will happened if nurses' service is slow. They seemed to be so called 'lazy bum' to me. Not only that, on their lunchtime, almost all but i can say all of the nurses had disappeared out of nowhere. I wondered what if a patient needed help, who should he or she asked from for help? This type of service attitude should changed! If not, maybe 5 to 10 years down the road, many patients would ask for transfer! Then, sad for that hospital! If you have that experience before, you should know which hospital that i mentioned in singapore...

Time flies! Chinese New Year will be ending very soon and a new year starts...
Today is the 15th day of the 1st lunar month...
On the 15th day of 1st lunar month, it is know as Yuan Xiao Festival. It is also know as Lantern Festival. For many Chinese, it is known that Luanr New Year is to be celebrated from the 1st day of the lunar month to the 15th day of the 1st lunar month. It meant that Chinese celebrated its new year for 15 days. So, on the 15th day of 1st lunar month, it marks the end of the lunar new year!
On this day, you are able to see people carrying lanterns (since it is know as lantern festival). However, for those not caaring lanterns, they eat tangyuan.

Release of 'O' Level Results

Release of the 'O' level Results>>>
When the clock stroke two, mdm heng carried out its speech....In her speech, the passing rate for English and Humanities were the worst of all..for EL..the passing rate is 76 while humanities is about 56...
In her next part of her speech, she announced the top few students who did very well..shocking was that the top student was not the expectation of what we predicted!
In the later part of the event, the form teacher gave all our results! Of course, many were scared, worried and nervous.
For me, I did better than my prelims and scored...erm..better not to say..The most happiest thing is that i pass my English..although it is only a borderline pass, i don't mind either because at least my 'O' lvl results is better than my prelims! =)

Next Monday, the 'O' level results will be out! Oh my! Very Nervous! In 4 days time, i will be getting my results. At the same time, i also worry about the results of different subjects. THe only hope is that my English will pass and for other subjects, i hope to do well..thats all!

Hello! A brand new week started! How's life?

I'm not very sure this is true or not but please don't say that i'm the one who release this news...date of release is on 12 January..

This will be my last post for 2008!
This also marks the end of Earth's revolution!
Side-track a little....
2008 is one of the longest years in previous years. 2008 consisting of 366 days and do you know that a new year will start 1 second later? Maybe a little chim...let me explain...by looking at the Earth's revolution, 2008 is not only 366 days but is 366 days and a second. This is by accurate measurement by some astrologists.
Before 2008 end, I will like to make my resolutions for 2009...
(from most impt to the least impt)
1. Hoping that my family members and friends to stay healthy and strong
2. Get a good results for my o lvl
3. Work hard for the year ahead
4. Have a job and earn some $$

Before a new year comes, let's look back at from the start of this year...

On Feb 2008,
we celebrated our lunar new year and this is significant..Why? Because the year of rat is the start of another year of the cycle of the zodiac...

On Mar 2008,
there was a severe shortage of rice all over the world include some other countries which are the world's biggest exporters of rice. Some countries who are the importers of rice also suffered. This acute shortage of rice is mainly cause by the adverse weather that caused by humans today.

On May 2008,
it was a disastrous to many countries. Cyclone at Myanmar and Earthquake at Sichuan, China.
Many suffered and homeless. It was a sad scene in both countries:(

On June 2008,
another disaster stroked. Japan also suffered its worst earthquake! This was not a joke!

On Aug 2008,
it was a significant month to the Chinese in China because they were holding the Olympics at their own country. They also deliberately hold the very first event on 8 August 2008 (080808)..why? For Chinese, '8' means prosperity and good luck.
On the next day of the first event, Singapore celebrated its 43rd birthday!

On Oct 2008,
'O' level start..haha..start on 20 October 2008...
At the same month, Lerman Brothers closed down and many who invested loss a great amount of money...it was the root of financial crisis

On Nov 2008,
Obama became the first black President in America and it was a historical miracle for America!
